MSc in Social Research Methods and Statistics at The University of Manchester (Pt/Ft)

Places are available on the Social Research Methods and Statistics MSc at The University of Manchester.

Led by the Social Statistics discipline area, and linked to the internationally recognised Cathie Marsh Institute for Social Research (CMIST), the course provides tuition in the application of cutting-edge social research methods and analysis such as:

  • Multilevel modelling
  • Longitudinal data analysis
  • Social network analysis
  • Statistical foundations
  • Survey research
  • Qualitative research methods

The training focuses primarily on advanced quantitative methods but the course is designed to be accessible to students from a broad range of disciplinary backgrounds and with varying levels of prior statistical knowledge. Students have come to our Masters directly from undergraduate studies but also from the public and private sector. We offer both part- and full-time study options. Many graduates go on to pursue careers in social research and consultancy or go on to secure funding for a PhD.
