New National Information Infrastructure published

Hudson River

The Open Data User Group (ODUG), the Independent Ministerial Advisory Group at Cabinet Office, have now published the new National Information Infrastructure (NII). This is an important document that helps frame the reasons why the ODUG thinks open data is important, what the framework for it could be and how it could be implemented.

The broad benefits that a strong NII looks to deliver include:

  • Driving the evidence-based analysis and the effective re-design of public services
  • Create new economic opportunities
  • Enable any citizen to use the data to monitor the activities of government

There is a useful data.gov.uk blog post available on the report here: National Information Infrastructure will deliver better public services, new products, new jobs and a stronger economy
