Social Media Influence on Young Voters

“A third of 18-24 year-olds think social media will influence their vote, according to results of a poll by Ipsos Mori”

The Guardian has published an article detailing the perceived influence that young voters feel social media has on them; “more than a third (34%) of those aged 18-24 said that reading something on social media was likely to influence their vote – second only to the TV debates”, furthermore the figures from Ipsos Mori show that young voters feel social media gives them a voice (71% agree), makes political debate more divisive than it used to be (52%), more superficial than it used to be (50%) and breaks down barriers (50%).
