Smoking Drinking and Drug Use Among Young People in England survey

The Smoking Drinking and Drug Use Survey Among Young People in England (SDD) is commissioned and managed by the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC). The survey is the national source of information in England on smoking, drinking and drug use among young people for government departments as well as the NHS and Local Authority Public Health bodies.

Since the first SDD survey in 1982 the fieldwork has taken place during the autumn term and has only required a small time commitment from schools taking part. In each school a small number of randomly selected pupils aged 11 to 15 have completed an anonymous questionnaire in exam conditions.
