LG Inform and LG Inform Plus
LG Inform and LG Inform Plus are two services run by the Local Government Association, to help councils view up-to-date data and information easily and quickly. LG Inform is free to all councils, and LG Inform Plus requires a small subscription to keep the service running.
LG Inform presents you with up-to-date published data about your local area and the performance of your council or fire and rescue authority. Whether you’re interested in scrutiny, a particular service area, or simply need an overview, it can help you review and compare performance with other authorities.
LG Inform is a flexible site that gives users the ability to create, edit and share reports using data from over 8,500 individual items held in the system. Over 50 ready-made reports can also be accessed here to give an instant picture for your local authority.
The main features of LG Inform are:
- View up to date published data on areas such as population, health, education and Covid-19.
- Build reports including text, maps, charts and tables
- Share reports with other users in the system
- Export reports to use externally
- Share reports through social media such as Twitter
- Personalise the site, add personalised dials to the home page, and set your own caparison group
- Benchmark local data via the free LG Inform benchmarking club.
LG Inform Plus is a subscription service that allows organisations to drill down from top level strategic metrics in LG Inform to small area reporting information. Organisations are able to view ward reports and create charts, maps and table using small area data. More information on the scope and users of the service can be found on the website.

The main features of LG Inform Plus are:
- View data on areas broken down by Ward such as child obesity and health and wellbeing
- Build ward reports including text, maps, charts and tables
- Share reports with other users in the system or export reports to use externally
- Build data queries to populate local performance management systems via our API data feed.
- Create your own natural neighbourhood groups to compare small areas of interest to use in your reports
- Our Governance modules covering records retention, powers and duties lists and Record of Processing Activity (RoPA) enable organisations to promote legal compliance and save resources.
